Clubs and Organizations
We offer multiple clubs and organizations for your child. As an integral part of educating the whole child, our clubs and organizations allow your child to grow and explore many different interests. Our students are active leaders in the various clubs and faculty sponsors provide an additional avenue for teaching our students leadership skills.
AMBASSADORS
For Juniors and Seniors with a positive attitude, acceptance of others, good communication, and interest in developing more leadership and communication skills. JPII Ambassadors will give tours of JPII, help with partner school visit days, support Catholic Schools Week activities, and other various events.

NATIONAL ART HONOR SOCIETY
The National Art Honor Society is open to Junior and Senior art students who are interested in art. Members are inducted annually and must submit an application for consideration.

AMERICA ROCKETRY CHALLENGE (ARC)
Three teams of approximately seven individuals design, build, and test rockets to meet specific requirements and potentially advance to a national competition in May near Washington D.C. This year’s requirements include protecting two eggs (one horizontal and one vertical), reaching a peak height as close to 850 feet as possible, and having a flight duration as close to 44-46 seconds as possible. Each team will make three qualifying flights (in addition to numerous test flights). The best two of these flights will be scored, and the 100 teams with the lowest scores will be invited to compete at the national competition in May.

AMERICAN SIGN LANGUAGE CLUB
ASL (American Sign Language Club) that meets on Tuesdays. For students who want to learn basic American Sign Language.

BROKEN AND SHARED
Broken and Shared is our liturgical choir that provides contemporary and traditional music for the weekly school Masses. They also perform at other school and community events.

CATHOLIC RELIEF SERVICES (CRS) CLUB
The CRS Club at JPII is the only high school CRS club in the state of Alabama. We exist to raise money for CRS efforts all over the world and to be advocates for the alleviation of poverty. Through the Lenten Rice Bowl project and other fundraising projects, we give financial support to CRS as a school community. As advocates, we correspond with our elected officials in Washington DC and also advocate for the CRS mission in our school community.

CHESS CLUB
Chess Club is a social, informational, and instructional environment where students can come together through chess and fellowship. The club will offer a wide variety of activities including instruction, games, and discussions.

DUNGEONS AND DRAGONS CLUB
JPII students can learn and play basic D&D after school on Thursdays with peers. Students can use their imaginations to develop creative problem-solving skills to discover answers to game questions while having fun.

FRENCH CLUB
The French Club is for those students who have an interest in French or the French culture. It is open to any student and meets once a month, on Thursday, before school.

The French Honor Society is open to students in level III French who have completed five semesters of French with an “A” average, and an overall “A” average in all other classes.

FELLOWSHIP OF CHRISTIAN ATHLETES
An interdenominational Christian sports ministry to see the world impacted for Jesus Christ through the influence of coaches and athletes.

GARDEN CLUB
There is a small vegetable and herb garden at JPII that was previously part of the Environmental Science curriculum but is now being tended by the Garden Club. For the past several years, this garden has produced about twenty-five pounds of vegetables per year which have been donated to Manna House. This year, we are looking forward to beginning an aquaponics project which will allow us to grow food indoors.

INTERNATIONAL THESPIAN SOCIETY
The International Thespian Society recognizes students who excel in technical and production fields as well as performance at JPII. Membership is based on their achievements in our school's theatre program.

LATIN CLUB
Latin Club is for those students who have an interest in the Latin language and Roman culture. It is student-led and open to all students who are willing to participate actively. MEN’S BIBLE STUDY
A group of male students meet to read scripture and discuss living a life of faith as young men.

MODEL UNITED NATIONS (UN)
Through Model UN, students will participate in simulations of the United Nations, role-playing countries, debating international issues, and formulating solutions to those issues. All JPII students are welcome to participate in our first-ever Falcon Model UN Conference on Saturday, September 7, 2024, and our first-ever Spring Falcon Model UN Conference on Saturday, March 1, 2025. Model UN travel conferences to area colleges and universities are by invitation only.

MU ALPHA THETA - MATH HONOR SOCIETY
Dedicated to inspiring a keen interest in mathematics, developing strong scholarship in the subject, and promoting the enjoyment of mathematics in high school.

THE GREEN TEAM
An interactive educational program that empowers students and teachers to help the environment through waste reduction, recycling, composting, energy conservation, and pollution prevention.

TSA: TECHNOLOGY STUDENT ASSOCIATION
"Learning to lead in a technical world." A national organization that develops 21st-century leadership skills through STEM-based competitions. Over 70 competitions are available for students to participate on either the state or national level.
